DilutionOur suggested dilution ratio is 100 parts pure water (reverse osmosis R.O., distilled, de-ionized, rain, or snow) to 1 part OceanSolution for most farm and hydroponics operations. OceanSolution can be used in most primary feeding regimes as well as number of supplemental applications. We strongly recommend the use of open pollination seeds for optimal results. Genetically engineered and hybrid seeds are often bred with increased demand for certain macro-elements (such as NPK) which will need other constituents added to meet the plant’s demand. Water and soil analysis would also be useful in determining dilution ratios and the frequency of application. Ultimately, as growers become more familiar with the needs of their crops, they are able to fine tune dilution ratios and application techniques. Since the nutrient solution and PH are balanced, the concern for burning plants is much less than traditional fertilizers.

Here are some tools to make it easier: 1. For the home gardener, the hydroponic enthusiast, and the farmer: make sure to purchase a TDS Meter to ensure correct dilution rates with your type of water. You can compare your readings to our Recommended PPM Chart –the chart is included with each TDS meter purchase or upon request.

2. For our home gardeners and lawn care customers: please consider the hose attachment. It will take the sometimes difficult calculations out of applying OceanSolution to your potted plants, flowers, shrubs, and lawn. Just set the nozzle to 2 tablespoons (1 oz.) and spray a small amount into a bucket. Test that with your TDS meter to make sure you are at the Recommended PPM and apply when needed. We recommend at least 4 times a season. Water as normal with the correct setting on the hose attachment and sit back and marvel at the results. Best part is, it’s SPRAY AND PLAY!

HYDROPONICS (100:1) - Suitable for all types of feeding operations and mediums. - Most crops require feeding once a day, taking into account temperature and moisture - Recycled solution can be used for up to one month (check dehydration) - If necessary, small amounts of diluted concentrate can be added to the nutrient solution periodically.

SOIL (100:1) – Important considerations are plant needs, drainage and nutrient depletion - Sandy or well-drained soils may be fed more frequently: once a day to twice a week - Loam or rich soils that retain significant moisture: twice a week to twice a month - Clay to dense, clogged soils that trap water and nutrients: once or twice a year or more, pay attention to results

HERBS (100:1) – As some herbs like it wet (some like it dry) arrange your beds accordingly - Feeding can vary from 1-3 times a week to 1-2 times a day depending on the plant needs, climate conditions and soil/medium drainage.

PASTURES (100:1) – Suggested application of 100 gallons of diluted solution per 10 acres: see general directions with respect to soil types.

ORCHARDS (100:1)
– Selective feeding of under-performing fruit trees: once or twice a month on well-drained soils; once or twice a year on clay/dense soils. - Fruit trees growing in sandy soils can be fed more frequently. 2-1/2 – 5 gallons of dilution per tree for healthy trees. - Sick trees without any leaves apply up to 10 gallons per tree, feeding the root area of the trees as above. Pay attention to results.

WHEATGRASS/SPROUTS (100:1) – Best grown without soil in temperatures around 69-75 degrees. - Feeding will vary: 1-3 times per day making sure to keep moist. Click here for Wheatgrass Growing Instructions!

FLOWERS (150-200:1) – Flowers being more delicate need a much lighter concentration or less parts per million. Follow same directions for soil types. Foliar spraying should be avoided with delicate flowers like orchids. Feed the roots.

What's in OceanSolution? The Earth's ocean is the only source where the known elements are in a perfectly balanced solution. The Elemental Breakdown Chart contains all elements found in seawater that were considered by Dr. Murray to be essential for plant, animal and human health.

Until now, soil and hydroponics growers have normally used fertilizers and nutrient solutions based on only three major elements: nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, more commonly known as NPK. More recently, the agricultural and scientific community has begun to recognize the importance of micronutrients so that progressive growers utilize up to 16 elements in their plant nutrient applications.

However, pure unadulterated seawater contains 90+ elements in an inorganic crystalloid solution ready to be absorbed by a plant’s roots. Although conventional science has not yet discovered all the benefits, it is only a matter of time before all of the elements will be considered essential or at least beneficial by plant physiologists.

For instance, micronutrients (required by plants in trace amounts) can be described as the catalysts that activate enzymes. They play a specific role in plant growth, development and yield. Dr. Murray discovered that the relative ratios between each and every element remain the same regardless of 1) the ocean from which a sample is sourced and 2) the degree of extraction. It is these relative ratios that are so crucial to the proper balance in OceanSolution® and facilitates the optimal nutrient uptake by plants.

HistoryBeginning in 1936, Dr. Maynard Murray began his lifelong research in sea energy agriculture, studying how to get the perfect chemistry (consistency, balance and proportion) of the ocean back into the depleted soils. He felt this was the key to proper nutrition: a stronger immune system and a longer, healthier life. Dr. Murray undertook a variety of experiments to determine the secrets of the sea, often wondering why land-based animals suffered from so many forms of chronic disease while sea animals generally enjoys vigorous health.

"Sea Energy Agriculture", the science that Dr. Murray uncovered lay largely dormant during the next 20 years until a dedicated effort was initiated to rescue this essential knowledge from oblivion.

Dr. Murray began his trials with sea solids after he started with coastal waters that had become increasingly toxic and unusable. OceanGrown has shifted from using sea solids back to an improved OceanSolution extract harvested from the deep ocean and suitable for all plants. This is because sea solid crystals are consistently problematic: many elements are lost during evaporation, crystals do not go back into solution easily or reliably, they are difficult to apply, as they are a natural desiccant and therefore tend to clump in humid environments. This has required major investment in the design of machinery that could extract the minerals without damaging the aerobic bacteria that is abundant in seawater and is important for revitalizing damaged soils. One advantage of extracting the minerals is the reduction of all handling, storage and shipping costs.

Dr. Murray's Research Objective: To obtain qualitative and quantitative data on the benefits of using OceanSolution as a sole growth nutrient for crops grown in a variety of media/soil, indoors and out. Dr. Murray experimented extensively in order to determine proper concentrations and appropriate applications of OceanSolution for a variety of individual crops. Furthermore, his trials attempted to measure the nutritional and health advantages to animals and humans that consumed crops fed with OceanSolution.

Methods: Control crops were fed with the modern NPK-based fertilizers. Experimental crops were fed OceanSolution in varying concentrations with supplemental amounts of NPK added for hybrid plants

Results: Growth rates and uniformity, yields, disease-resistance, water usage, and nutritional content were compared both by laboratory measurement assay and by direct observation. Crops grown with OceanSolution showed marked improvements over those grown conventionally in all of the above parameters.

Conclusions: Clearly, there are significant differences between the results obtained with conventional NPK-based fertilizers and those obtained with OceanSolution.. By offering a buffet (full spectrum) of nutrients as provided by OceanSolution, the plant has the freedom (genetic permission) to select or reject elements in order to maximize its life force potential.
